A lead system architect provides direction within projects and acts as a mentor for engineering teams that learn from your experience.

What does a lead system architect do?

A lead system architect determines the technical direction of high-end mechatronic systems at our clients. You translate system requirements into a functional architecture and divide responsibilities across disciplines. You coordinate with R&D, project managers, customers and suppliers to manage technical risks and feasibility. In short, you are both a strategic thinker and a technological leader. During the design and testing phases, you guide engineers, conduct design reviews and ensure consistency within the system architecture.

In this role, you combine leadership with vision. You think ahead, ask critical questions early in concept development and understand how design decisions affect functionality. Can you see yourself leading such multidisciplinary projects? Then you may be our next employeneur.

Examples of lead system architect roles

Below are some real examples to show how versatile the role truly is:

  • You determine how an ASML machine achieves nanometer accuracy and how all components work together to minimize vibrations and error margins.
  • You design the system behind an automated surgical robot, where movements must be synchronized precisely with imaging and sensor feedback.
  • You define thermal requirements for a high-speed pick & place-machine to ensure performance remains stable during continuous production.
